BAAPS Reveals Growth in Facial Procedures

baaps logoThe annual survey by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) is an excellent measure of the health of the cosmetic surgery industry.

This year, statistics gathered from BAAPS members (plastic surgeons) show a 17% increase in the number of surgical procedures with double digit growth for facial procedures such as facelift, neck lift, brow lift and blepharoplasty (eyelid and eye bag surgery).

The survey doesn’t include non-surgical treatments such as botox or fillers. However, there is generally thought to be a connection – if people are investing in their appearance with surgical procedures, then the non-surgical treatments can be expected to be on the rise at least as much. Cosmetic injectable products such as BOTOX® and dermal fillers are generally considered to be safer as well as significantly cheaper for the patient compared to surgery.

This continued growth of the market is good news for those practitioners who have invested in developing their skills, as more and more patients discover the benefits of having cosmetic treatments. Recent cases in the media and the imminent arrival of tighter regulations also mean that patients are better informed than ever about the importance of choosing a skilled treatment provider.
