Americans Spent Over $12bn 2014
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) has issued its annual data showing that Americans spent over $12 billion on surgical and non-surgical procedures in 2014.
The top surgical procedures for both men and women combined in 2014 were:
- Liposuction (342,494 procedures)
- Breast Augmentation (286,694 procedures)
- Eyelid Surgery (165,714 procedures)
The top non-surgical procedures for both men and women combined in 2014 were:
- BOTOX®, also known as Botulinum Toxin (3,588,218 procedures)
- Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers(1,696,621 procedures)
- Hair Removal (828,480 procedures)
Procedures for Men Up 43%
Over Five Year Period
Noticeably more men are turning to aesthetic cosmetic procedures, with a 43% increase overall in the last 5 years, encompassing both surgical and nonsurgical options. The most popular non-surgical treatments for men remain
- Botulinum Toxin (up 84%)
- Hyaluronic Acid (up 94%)
