The ‘Treatments You Can Trust’ register of injectable cosmetic providers has been formally accredited under the Accredited Registers programme.
This means that the register has been vetted and approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, an
independent statutory body which is accountable to parliament.
Professional Standards Authority
Harry Cayton, Chief Executive of the Professional Standards Authority said:
“We are very pleased to accredit the Treatments You Can Trust register of doctors,
dentists and registered nurses. Bringing doctors, dentists and registered nurses
providing injectable cosmetic treatments into a broad framework of assurance is good for patients, service users and the public and is the best way to promote quality. The
programme offers enhanced consumer protection to anyone looking for health and social care services, and gives doctors, dentists and registered nurses providing injectable cosmetic treatments the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to good practice.”
Treatments You Can Trust
Sally Taber, Director, Treatments You Can Trust welcomed the news of their accreditation, saying:
“The quality mark will give extra peace of mind for anyone looking for a doctor, dentist or registered nurse, letting them know that anyone who holds the Quality Mark is
committed to high standards. Treatments You Can Trust is pleased to offer the quality
mark to doctors, dentists or registered nurses providing injectable cosmetic treatments
that meet the far reaching standards of our register, as approved by the Professional
Standards Authority.”
Chair of Treatments You Can Trust, Baroness Morris of Bolton said:
“This accreditation is a significant advance in patient confidence in cosmetic injectable treatments. Since 2010, Treatments You Can Trust has pioneered the registration of doctors, dentists and registered nurses who practice injectable cosmetic treatments and who meet our robust standards.”
Register of Injectable Cosmetic Providers
The Register of Injectable Cosmetic Providers is kept up to date at treatmentsyoucantrust.org.uk.
The register currently lists just under 200 practitioners across England, so is not yet a comprehensive listing of all practitioners – just those who have chosen to join the scheme.
Joining the Register
Cosmetic treatment practitioners interested in joining the register can apply online at Treatments You Can Trust.
The initial registration charge is £500 per practitioner with an additional fee per premises registered. There is also an inspection fee for premises not inspected by other schemes (e.g. CQC). There are discounts for multiple practitioners/locations, but registering is a financial consideration.
Registration is renewed annually and subject to checks as well as payment of the fee (for year 2 and 3 at the same rate as the initial registration) .
Practitioners on the Treatments You Can Trust (TYCT) register will be able to display the Accredited Register quality mark. Practitioners must now decide whether joining the scheme is worthwhile.
