SkinViva Training Academy has announced that their training courses for cosmetic non-surgical treatments are now available for non-prescribing pharmacists as well as pharmacists.

This expansion of availability will be well-received by non-prescribing pharmacists who are interested in pursuing a career in the exciting and rewarding world of aesthetics.

Non-Prescribing Pharmacists

Non-prescribing pharmacists are now allowed to apply for SkinViva Training courses, in line with HEE recommendations. A proviso is that they must have evidence of injecting experience, such as flu jabs or travel immunisations. This will have included specialist training as well as carrying out injections. As with other medical professions trained by SkinViva Training Academy, pharmacists will be required to undertake distance learning study, complete a knowledge-based test, and carry out hands-on supervised practical experience.

This opens up a new career pathway for non-prescribing pharmacists who are keen to expand their knowledge and skills. Aesthetic treatments are growing in popularity and those in the industry say that the role is incredibly rewarding – not only financially, but moreover in seeing the difference the treatments can make and genuinely delighting their clients.

The recommended starting place for all delegates is the Foundation BOTOX® & Dermal Fillers Course which covers off essential theory on anatomy and aesthetics as well as including extensive practice on live models.

Prescribing Pharmacists

Prescribing pharmacists have always been eligible for SkinViva Training courses. As a prescriber, there is a great advantage working in aesthetics, in that you are able to dispense BOTOX prescriptions directly for your own patients. You are also able to work with non-prescribing practitioners, attending appointments can dispensing POM prescriptions for the popular anti-wrinkle treatment.

Attending a SkinViva Training course builds on a prescribing qualification by teaching the techniques required for injecting safely and effectively to produce a good aesthetic result.
