#SkinjectorStories – Claire at Butterfly Aesthetics Clinic

Delegate’s Own Story

#SkinjectorStories – meet Claire.

Claire first trained with SkinViva Training (Manchester) in Foundation BOTOX® and Dermal Fillers back in 2016.

Fast forward two years and three training courses later (including some 121 training sessions) and she’s successfully opened up her first clinic in Wakefield, West Yorkshire – Butterfly Aesthetics.

Video: Claire’s Aesthetics Business  Story

How did you first get into medical aesthetics?

“I’ll be honest, it started off just wanting to earn a little bit of extra money on the side.

“Also, I’ve also been a shift worker for so long that I was getting tired of the long hours and being late off constantly – missing out on family and my children!

“So, when it started to take off, I just thought this was something that I could pursue as a long term career.”

How long was it until you started building your client base in order for you to be able to open a clinic?

“It was a good 8 or 9 months before I started getting regular Botox and Dermal Filler clients and regular enquiries.

“I always had it in the back of my mind that it was a five year plan that I would endeavor to open an aesthetics clinic offering injectable treatments. So, I feel quite proud and quite blessed that I’ve done it in two.”

What’s the best thing about opening your own clinic?

“It’s just great to have my own flexibility and work when I want, not to be told when I’m working.

“I can start and finish work when I like, so I’ve got more work/life balance. And I just feel really proud every time I walk through the door that this is me and this is what I do now.”

Have you got any advice for anyone looking to start out in the injectable cosmetics  industry?

Claire’s advice would be:

  1. Do the training and get the experience behind you. Don’t jump straight into doing advanced procedures because you do need to be good at the basics.
  2. You need to be able to understand what people want and most importantly you need to be able to manage expectations well. That’s one of the biggest challenges I’ve had.
  3. I would also say that don’t rush into giving up your NHS job. When you get to a point where you’re having to turn people away because of work, you should have a bit of a rethink
  4. But most of all, don’t be scared! Just go for it, you can always go back.
