Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine Qualification
The awarding organisation ‘Industry Qualifications (IQ)’ has expanded its entry criteria to recognise and include Physiotherapists onto the Level 7 Certificate in Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine.
The IQ Level 7 Certificate in Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine has undergone continuous review and improvement since its launch in June 2016.
The addition of physiotherapists to the entry criteria was made in response to industry feedback and reflects the profession’s increasing use of injectables. In addition to physiotherapists, other professions on IQ’s entry criteria list are professionally registered Doctors, Dentists, Prescribing Nurses, Non-Prescribing Nurses, Prescribing Midwives, Non-Prescribing Midwives, Pharmacists, Non-Prescribing Pharmacists, Paramedics, Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists.
SkinViva Training Sales Manager welcomes the announcement, saying:
“I personally believe this is a positive step forward. The more people that register on Level 7, the more practitioners will be proving their competence as part of building their business.”
Dr Tim Pearce, Clinical Director at SkinViva Training (an centre offering the Level 7 qualification), added:
“I am pleased to be able to open our level 7 program to this cohort of skilled health care professionals. As the NHS has committed to the development and specialization of healthcare professionals we have seen physiotherapists present a formidable case for adding aesthetic qualifications to their scope of practice.”
“This highly intelligent cohort qualify with a level 6 degree which validates their ability to make independent decisions in the realm of diagnosis and management. We know these professionals go on within the NHS to gain prescribing qualifications, diplomas in injection therapy and work in emergency clinical settings. For this reason it is just that they have the opportunity to grow their skills in Aesthetics within a validated program of study.
“I am certain these highly trained practitioners will make a valuable contribution to raising standards in the industry.”
Sue Pieri-Davies a Private Consultant Physiotherapist & Aesthetic Practitioner, welcomed the news, saying:
“I would like to acknowledge industry qualifications for recognising the suitability of physiotherapists to access their Level 7 Certificate in Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine. While it should have always been so, it is honorable that IQ now understand the high educational and clinical expertise of physiotherapists, along with their contribution to practising safe aesthetic techniques.”
