“Why do so many injectors want to Shadow clinicians? If you’ve already done your training what’s the missing bit?
“I think it’s the uncertainty of a real clinic, because on a training day we all understand that those patients have been specially collected and collated and have already assigned themselves to having a particular treatment and that you’re not even responsible for the aftercare of that patient – so it’s actually a false situation.
“When I’m in my clinic I see patients who I have no idea what they want until they’re in front of me and I do treatments that often the patient doesn’t know that they’re going to have until we’ve done the consultation. It’s a much more varied and interesting process than most of the training you’re ever likely to do and that is why people seek shadowing days – they’re actually very hard to get.
“That’s why I decided to put together a video of a normal clinic that I’ve done at SkinViva, where we didn’t select the patients we just treated whoever came through the door. You hear the entire conversation of every procedure. We didn’t, you know, throw any away either. This is a full collection of a normal clinic that I would have, warts and all – but also gems and all; because there’s a lot of stuff in this that will reveal to you what working an Aesthetics Clinic really is like as opposed to what a training day is like because they are actually very different things
