Continuing Professional Development
SkinViva Training understands that CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is a very important part of our delegates ongoing programme of personal development in aesthetics as well as being a requirement of their professional registration.
We are pleased to confirm that we have 9 aesthetics training courses which are certified as CPD Accredited:
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is the term used to describe the commitment to professional learning.
CPD is a rounded approach to the idea of ‘continual learning’. CPD can comprise of professional training, workshops, conferences, events, e-learning programs, best practice techniques. CPD is based on individuals improving within their personal and professional goals.
Engaging in CPD activities in aesthetics ensures that both academic and practical qualifications do not become outdated or redundant; allowing you to continually ‘re-skill’ or ‘up-skill’ themselves. As an example, techniques in botulinum toxin and dermal fillers evolve constantly and so aesthetics CPD is a must for keeping up-to-date.
You should keep a track of your annual aesthetics CPD activities on a CPD record form and ensure it is accurate, up to date and meets the requirements of your professional body of association. CPD activity is recorded in terms of learning outcomes and the practical application of the knowledge obtained.
It is your responsibility to ensure that any CPD you undertake complies with the requirements of your professional body & your professional role.
The CPD undertaken is recorded by a CPD Certificate of Attendance, CPD Self-Assessment forms and personal CPD Record Cards. Once a CPD certified activity has been delivered, the attendee can update their CPD record sheet and attach the associated certificate.
SkinViva Training will ensure your certificate carries the official CPD certified logo. However, if you would like an individual CPD certificate you can apply for this directly through the CPD certification process or through SkinViva Training.
It is important that you keep CPD record up-to-date as you will often need to submit evidence of CPD activity to your governing professional bodies or employers, for example as part of revalidation.
- CPD helps you to concentrate on how you become a more effective & skilled professional in aesthetics.
- Training and learning increases confidence and overall capability and enhances career development.
- People who are encouraged to engage in CPD by their organisation/workplace are helping to create a health learning environment, leading to a more fulfilled and competent workforce.
The vast majority of institutions and professional bodies provide individuals with CPD targets. CPD is usually requested in the form of hours, points, units or credits.
CPD Providers can provide guidance to individuals as to how many CPD hours or points are achievable from the completion of any certified CPD activity.
The points accredited to each course are noted on each course page.
Professional bodies & associations
CPD is typically regulated by professional bodies, trade and industry associations within each professional sector.
Most institutes provide their members with Continuing Professional Development requirements generally as a required annual number of hours. These CPD hours are sometimes converted to points, units or credits. Most institutions allow members to choose subjects of relevance to them as individuals, a minority also require their members to seek CPD on a range of core subjects.
