FAQs: Who Can Train?
SkinViva Training offer courses in injectable non-surgical treatments exclusively for qualified medical professionals.
Our BOTOX and dermal fillers courses are accessible for people who are members of specific professional bodies. This is based on information from insurance providers and is subject to change, so do keep an eye on this page if you don’t yet meet the entry requirements.
SkinViva Training welcomes qualified medical professionals to train with us. We fully support learning and continuing professional development across all specialties. Based on information from the major insurance brokers, we are able to offer cosmetic treatments training for the following:
- Nurses (prescribing and non-prescribing)
- Dental Therapists
- Dental Hygienists
- Prescribing Pharmacists
- Non-Prescribing Pharmacists with experience of injecting people e.g. vaccinations
Medical professionals from the above list must have active registration with the relevant professional body e.g. GMC/GDC/NMC/HCPC.
If registration is lapsed, sadly you will not be eligible for a SkinViva Training course, due to insurance considerations.
You will need to seek renewal of your registration.
International equivalent qualifications are usually permitted to train with us, but you would still need to prove current registration with an appropriate registered body.
If you have an overseas qualification and are unsure on the position, please feel free to contact our team on 0161 850 2491 or email email@example.com and we will aim to come back to you within 24 hours (Monday to Saturday).
We are often asked by other individuals working in a medical environment. Unfortunately, the rules are quite strict. The following are NOT currently able to train with us:
- Dental nurses, even under dentist supervision
- ODPs (Operating Department Practitioner)
- Part-qualified professionals from our approved list
- Qualified medical professionals with lapsed registration
- Diagnostic radiographer
- Veterinary nurses
- Dental technicians
Unfortunately, we are not currently able to accept the above on our training courses due to insurance.
This list is not exhaustive, but based on people who have enquired previously.
We are regularly approached by qualified and experienced beauticians and beauty therapists who are keen to access training for injectable treatments. Unfortunately, our courses are strictly for medical professionals with active registration. The following would therefore NOT be able to train with us at the present time:
- Beauty therapists
- NVQ qualified beauty professionals
- Laser technicians, even with qualifications
For beauticians/beauty therapists keen to gain an insight into the world of aesthetic treatments, you may be interested in volunteering as a model, whereby you can receive treatment at a discounted price.
Yes, all non-prescribing nurses are welcome to attend SkinViva Training courses.
There are specific guidelines/regulations about remote prescribing for Prescription-Only Medicines (POM) including Botox across professional bodies, including the GMC and NMC. When you have finished the course, you will need to arrange for a Doctor or Nurse Prescriber to undertake face to face consultations with your patients. We will give you more information about this at your course.
